WORK EXPERIENCE BEFORE ENTERING THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY
- Both prior to university, during university and between government/NGO contracts in Social Services, I worked in several Winnipeg law firms; also, I worked as assistant to the Director of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and, I managed a health foods store.
- Commencing in 1988 I worked in the Social Services field in Winnipeg.  Primarily, and on behalf of three levels of government, I designed and implemented a job market program for Newcomers to Canada.
- Thereafter, for a 7-year period in British Columbia, on behalf of the Northern Interior Health Authority and the Canadian Mental Health Association, I designed and implemented a Vocational Rehabilitation program for persons experiencing mental health disorders; I also designed and facilitated self-help workshops for the community.
- On my return to Winnipeg in 2002, at the suggestion of persons already in the industry, I made the decision to become a Realtor.

PERSONAL
With the exception of studying and working for several years in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, Winnipeg is the city where I have lived my life.  Whereas I conduct my real estate practice in all parts of the city and region, at various times my own Winnipeg homes have been in St. James-Assiniboia (my father was born on Ferry Road in St. James!), East Kildonan and Fort Garry.  My maiden name is Anderson. I have two adult children, a son and a daughter, both born in Winnipeg but now living in other centres.  And, I have three delightful grandchildren!

MY CHOICE OF REAL ESTATE AS A CAREER
I believe that to work effectively in Real Estate one requires extensive product knowledge (knowledge of the physical components of houses, condos, duplexes, side-by-sides, mobile homes etc.) as well as a sound understanding of Real Estate Law.  Also, and most important, one requires superior marketing and negotiating skills and, unconditional commitment to service excellence - to putting the needs and best interests of the client beyond all else. As much as anything, Real Estate is a "people profession".  As such, I believe that to work effectively in this industry one must be committed to meeting the economic, social, psychological, even spiritual needs of buyers and sellers; one must truly enjoy working with people and working with homes. Because my education, training, personality, temperament and abilities are in keeping with all of the above, I chose Real Estate as a career!  Over the past years, I've since discovered that Real Estate is not the panacea that most people believe it to be. ( ! )  Like everything else, it's a lot of hard work.  But ... like everything else, it rewards those who work well and work hard ... and, as such, I've never regretted my decision to join this industry!
